New Fabric Stash Favourites

Forest Fabrics

A couple of months ago I popped over to Hong Kong (which is 2 hours away via train) and enjoyed some fabric retail therapy and added some gorgeous stuff to my stash. Thanks to some great tips from Cat (Raspberry Rainbow) I was able to visit a couple of lovely stores that I would never have found without some local knowledge!

Black stripe and animal print fabric

Forest Fabric & Sewing was just a small show room up on the 7th floor of a very non-descript building in Kowloon.  Luckily I had a friend with me who could speak Cantonese and ask directions, otherwise we would never have found it! I picked up some really fun fabrics including this yellow stripy animal print and of course a black and white stripe that I love using for binding.

Bunting fabric

That bunting print really is that bright! You need sunglasses to look at it – neon all the way. I couldn’t resist this little floral either that has hidden frogs all through the print.

And finally, I think my favourite find of the day was this super lush mermaid and narwhal print with gold and aqua. I have no idea what I’ll use it for but as always, the right project will appear sometime in the future I’m sure!

I have no idea of any of the brands or names of these fabrics (sorry!) and several were precut with no selvedges. Very happy to welcome them home to my stash though.

Right now I’m –

Reading – Just finished The Nest by Cynthia D’Aprix Sweeney. Real page turner, I binge read it in one day!

Eating – I think I’ve made this recipe of brownies about 5 times in the past month.

Making – about to baste a quilt, I’ve had the top made for over 3 months.

Watching – My eldest daughter just finished reading Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s (Sorcerer’s) Stone. I have a rule that she cannot watch the films until she’s read each book. We will watch the first Harry Potter film this Saturday which will be her 8th birthday. I love the series so I’m really excited to be sharing it with her!

    1. Thanks! It’s so pretty and that makes sense – it’s so similar to Sarah Jane’s other designs.

    1. They are but I don’t think I have enough fabric for dress making – I only bought one metre. My eldest is due for a new quilt so maybe it will work well in that.

  1. Hi,

The fashion industry is a future-thinking industry because clothes are one of the necessities that people require. Fashionistas don’t mind showcasing their beauty in public while they’re at it. As you said this will very important for us to understand the test of fashion.
