This is only my second quilt finish for the year, but considering all the changes we’ve been through I’m calling that a success!
I’d had these pinwheels sitting in my WIP pile for about a year and they were too pretty to leave unfinished. A baby quilt was the perfect project for the amount of fabric I had available.
I confess by the time I had the top done and basted, I didn’t really put much effort into the quilting, I just really wanted to get this project finished. Simple straight lines along the block seams was quick and easy. Since I moved my walking foot is giving me trouble so I did this one with the my regular presser foot.
The prints are all from the Cloud 9 range Tsuru which is a Rashida Coleman Hale design before she moved on to Cotton + Steel. I’ve always loved her style. I bought the bundle about 2 or 3 years ago, as well as some yardage of the feather print which I’ve used for backing. It’s great to finally use something that’s been in my stash for a long time – I’m not much of a fabric hoarder, I do like to use everything.
Horsing around after our photo shoot – lots of complaints of sore arms from holding up the quilt so bribery was required…lucky I had some homemade biscuits waiting at home as payment!
This week we are off to Tokyo – I have BIG plans for some fabric shopping since I’ve been unable to find any quilting cottons here in China. Lucky for me Blossom Heart Quilts has this great guide…I might have read it about 5 times already! Keep your eye out on my instagram and facebook for some fun Japan / fabric shopping photos!
