Sew Delicious Book Club

book club

I mentioned a couple of weeks ago that I was keen for more book chat and wanted to introduce an informal book club. The response was a resounding YES! Hooray!

How will it work?

I will announce a book each month. You can read it if it interests you.  Four weeks later I will post my thoughts on the book and you can join in by commenting and tell me what you thought of the book.

How will you choose books?

I will choose titles that will interest me, that have wide appeal, and are likely to be easily available in libraries, book shops and online so that everyone can access them. I’m also keen for recommendations – comment below if you have some!

What happens if I’m not really interested in the book you choose?

No problem! Check out the following month’s book choice and join in then if you would like to. This is very informal. Just an excuse to get reading and enjoy book recommendations and different genres and chat about it.

September 2015 Book Choice

The very first book choice is….drumroll please….

Fangirl by Rainbow Rowell

Fangirl by Rainbow Rowell! I’ve heard great things about this author. It’s fairly light fiction and a nice easy read. It’s been out for a couple of years so it should be widely available at your local library.

If you are super keen to get stuck into it now, here are some quick links:

Fangirl – Kindle version      Fangirl – Audible Audiobook

Woohoo – let’s get reading! If you’ve already read this one, no spoilers yet please!

The next book club post will be in one month with chat about Fangirl and the reveal of October’s book.  If you don’t want to miss it, make sure you subscribe via email or to my newsletter! All the links and info in my sidebar.

  1. I can’t believe I’m not on your email list, I’ve just signed up so I can join in the book club – love this idea!

    1. Yay – I saw that you got it! Looking forward to hearing what you think when you finish it 🙂

  2. just placed it on hold at the library – not my usual sort of book, so should be interesting 🙂

  3. Hi. I only listen to books and the book you suggest is not available in Maybe an idea to take that into account the next time you choose a book. This sounds a bit unkind, I think, but it is definitely not meant that way. Just an idea (o:

    1. Hi Simone, thanks for your feedback. As mentioned in the blog post, I did consider the availability of the book across a variety of platforms. Unfortunately it gets very tricky when trying to accommodate a large number of people from many different places around the world.

You have mentioned you use – the book seems to be available there, here is the link:

  4. I’ve actually been thinking about reading this book for a while now, and this could be a good push to actually get that done. I cannot wait to find out what next month brings.

  5. I used to read her columns for the Omaha (Nebraska, USA) newspaper when she must have been very early in her career! I’ve yet to check out her books, but am glad she is having such success as an author. Maybe this is a great opportunity to check out her fiction!

  6. For those that haven’t tried the Overdrive app, here is the US it connects to your library and lets you download audiobooks. So I just put a hold on this book looks good. Can’t wait to ‘listen’ to it.

  7. Excellent idea! I need a new book to read this month. Overdrive works in Australia too, I’ve used it on my ipad but I haven’t tried audiobooks on it.
