Sewing With Selvedge & Scraps

The creativity has been a little slow around here recently. We have been away on holiday lately so the sewing machine has been a little bit neglected but I’m getting back in the swing of things this week.

I have seen a few selvedge projects floating around in blog land, and I have always loved the look of them, so I’ve started one for myself. It will be a zip pouch, and I have sewn my selvedges onto a piece of cotton batting, which has given the pieces a lovely soft quilt-like feel. I used this tutorial from Fussy Cut as inspiration.

I look forward to sharing the finished product!

I am participating in the Scrap Bag Swap hosted by Nin at The Wardrobe and I liked how my selvedge project is coming along so I used the same idea to start the scrap bag for my secret partner.

I pulled out my fabric scraps and used completely random pieces to create the same style as the pictures above. There is no rhyme or reason behind the fabric choices, just that they were scraps. Not sure if I’ll ever make a good quilter…

It all looks a bit messy now but I’m hoping the finished product will be what it looks like in my head 🙂

  1. I love that you have done it on an angle and haven't thought too much about this going with that – I love the whole mismatched thing. Very cool – can't wait to see it finished!
